Marketing and Brand Building Coaching

The Evolution of PlanIt Coaching

For years, my philosophy was to do everything possible to alleviate my clients’ stress and let them focus on what mattered. In my ways, this idea still works and thrives, but through this process, I saw another group of entrepreneurs emerge. This group could either not afford to hire someone to do all their admin and marketing tasks, or they wanted to learn the skills for themselves.

Most of my clients (coaching and non-coaching) did not attend business school, and the business they are in is the first time they’ve worked for or with a start-up. In some cases, they have operated their small business for months or even years and somehow gotten by, but they can barely afford to continue this way, or they are tired of the lack of growth.

My big dream has always been to teach the skills I have learned over the last 20 years (yes, I started my marketing degree 20 years ago!!!) and create something digestible and relevant for entrepreneurs that wasn’t a huge time and money suck like business school. I wanted to create business retreats and weekend workshops, and I still plan to. However, the first thing that started through request was small business coaching. From there, I developed three phases, just like in school, where you’d have Marketing 1, 2, and 3 in different semesters or even years.

The three levels are Intro to Business Creation, Building Your Brand, and Brand Growth.

If the goal of PlanIt was to help small businesses succeed and grow on a more sustainable, ethical path that benefits the community and the planet, the best way to do so at scale is to empower as many entrepreneurs as possible with the skills I apply to my clients. While we have only had a couple of coaching students thus far, we didn’t start that long ago! I’ve been slowly developing the course curricula for each level, because the word “coaching” almost seems to deflate what I’m doing. I’m teaching, providing mentorship, providing feedback on your ideas, and providing advice based on your problems.

While there is a curriculum to follow, it’s tailored to you and your specific business, so everything you learn is applicable! I provide notes with the classes, you take notes, and I take new notes. You can request additional consulting hours if something doesn’t quite make sense. We can meet weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly- digitally or in person. I provide assignments after each class for you to practice and retain what we covered. We go over your assignments. Each assignment is applicable to what you need to be doing for your business- nothing is theoretical or involving another business as a case study. This is about you!

WHO IS THIS FOR?

So far, my clients for this have been moms! But anyone can learn these skills at any stage of life. It’s never too early or too late to start and scale your business if you have a great idea, skill, or service that you want to share with your community. Sometimes all you need is some structure, insights, and a guiding hand to assist you on your journey.

Just like in school, as you move up in level, your education begins to taper, and my role becomes more of a mentor, a person who will keep you accountable, and a way to troubleshoot. However, at the beginning, I'm here to hold your hand every step of the way as you navigate the twists and turns of a small business in a crazy, saturated digital market with ever-changing trends! It’s a lot, but we got this!!!
